Exploring Congregation Yeshuat Tsion

Thank you for entering my page!  Right now, you are probably searching to find out more about Jewish beliefs in Jesus.  Perhaps, you are questioning your faith, and are looking at different options. Many people are becoming interested in Messianic Judaism. Are you? Congregation Yeshuat Tsion is a Messianic congregation in the Denver-area led by Chaim Urbach. However, Yeshuat Tsion is not a real Jewish organization, but a Christian group. I will prove this, using information from their site and other Christian sites. Reference links will be provided, so you can see the evidence for your own eyes.

The Leader

Chaim Urbach is the leader of Yeshuat Tsion. According to the Yeshuat Tsion web-site:

"Chaim Urbach was born in Israel, and spent his childhood there. His parents accepted Yeshua as their Messiah when he was very young...He received his theological training at Denver Seminary, graduating in 1991 with an MA in New Testament Studies. After his ordination, he assumed the leadership of Yeshuat Tsion."

As a start, Urbach was raised in the Messianic movement, not any real Jewish movement. Moreover, his religious training comes from the Denver Seminary with a degree in the New Testament, which is the Christian Bible! Here is the link to the quote: Click Here

So, what is the Denver Seminary? Is there anything Jewish about it? No! According to the Denver Seminary web-site:

"Schools begin in minds and hearts-not in brick and mortar. In May 1950, several Colorado pastors felt the need for a new seminary to train leaders to serve in churches throughout the world as missionaries, pastors and Christian educators. In 1952 the first graduating class from the Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary consisted of six members.

Dr. Carey Thomas served as the first president of the seminary, and Dr. Vernon C. Grounds served as dean. After Dr. Thomas' death in 1955, Dr. Grounds became the seminary's second president. Under his leadership the seminary attracted students from the evangelical community at large, as well as from the Conservative Baptist Association. As the student body continued to increase, the downtown facilities were outgrown. In the summer of 1968 the school relocated to the south side of the city by purchasing the twelve acres of land and four buildings from Kent School for Girls, the Seminary's current location.

In 1962, the seminary joined the Association of Theological Schools and became fully accredited. The following year, it was welcomed into the North Central Association of Secondary Schools. Although the Seminary has roots in the Conservative Baptist denomination, since its beginning, Denver Seminary has been broadly evangelical and has served students from many denominations and backgrounds. Last year, Denver Seminary served students from approximately 50 denominations from across the US and around the world.

The Denver Seminary is a Baptist organization. They do not train Jewish leaders, only Christian leaders! A real Jewish leader would never attend that school, but Chaim Urbach decided to lead Yeshuat Tsion after graduating from the Denver Seminary! Here is the link to the proof quote: Click Here

Shabbat School

Yeshuat Tsion, like many Messianic congregations, have a Shabbat School. Here is the link to their web-site where they talk about it: Click Here

Now, you may have noticed that no Jewish synagogues hold a Shabbat School. Jewish synagogues hold their schools on Sunday. Why do Jewish synagogues do this? Well, at school the teachers and students engage in activities such as cutting, writing, drawing, testing...all of which are work. It is Biblically forbidden to work on Shabbat, so no Jewish synagogue will hold school on Shabbat because they do not want to violate the Bible. However, Yeshuat Tsion has no problem holding school on the Shabbat, something a real synagogue will not do!

Christian Beliefs

Not suprisingly, Yeshuat Tsion's beliefs are practically identical to those of the Denver Seminary. This includes beliefs in the Virginal Birth, the Holy Trinity and various other beliefs that only exist in Christianity, not in Judaism! Here are the links to the Yeshuat Tsion and the Denver Seminary's beliefs so you can compare the two:

Christian Links

Congregation Yeshuat Tsion is listed on many Christian sites, web-sites that a real Jewish synagogue would never be listed on:

Great Sites, Priceless Information

Here are a number of great sites that counter missionaries and explain the differences in belief between Judaism and Christianity, including addressing the Biblical verses that missionaries try to use against the Jews and explaining why the missionaries are incorrect.
