Exploring Congregation Beth T'filah

Thank you for entering my page!  Right now, you are probably searching to find out more about Jewish beliefs in Jesus.  Perhaps, you are questioning your faith, and are looking at different options. Beth T'filah of Hollywood uses traditional Jewish symbols, a torah and a tallit to present themselves as Jewish. What they leave out from their web-site is that they are not a Jewish congregation, but a Christian congregation. Specifically, they are part of the Southern Baptist Convention. I will demonstrate this, using information from their web-site and other Christian sites. Each time, reference links will be provided so you can see the evidence with your own eyes.

Southern Baptist Creation

Beth T'filah is a official member of the Southern Baptist Convention. Here is their listing on the Southern Baptist web-site: Click Here

Let's think about this in a logical manner. Would a real Jewish congregation be part of the Southern Baptist Convention, a group that wants to convert all of the Jews? Of course not! Only churches are part of the Southern Baptist Convention.

In truth, Beth T'filah is a church born from Pastor Bill Billingsley and Sheridan Hills Baptist Church. According to the Baptist Press:

"At least 53 churches and missions in south Florida can trace their roots to the influence of Bill Billingsley and Sheridan Hills Baptist Church. But don't ask pastor Billingsley to tell you which one he's most proud of. "Would I choose one of my children as my favorite?" he asked. It's hard to draw comparisons between congregations as diverse as 17-year-old Flamingo Road Baptist, with its contemporary format and Saturday night worship option designed to appeal to affluent 30-somethings, and four-year-old Beth T'Filah, with services drawn from Hebrew liturgy to make the Messiah known in Broward County's Jewish community."

Obviously, Beth T'filah is simply a church designed to convert Jews. Here is the link to the quote; the quote comes from the first paragraph: Click Here

Baptist Organizations

As a Southern Baptist Church, Beth T'filah is alligned with it's local Baptist organizations. Specifically, they are part of the Florida Baptist Convention and Gulf Stream Baptist Association. Beth T'filah is in the directory of the Florida Baptist Convention. To find them, simply follow this link and enter Beth T'filah in the section called Church Name: Click Here

Clearly, no real Jewish synagogue is part of the Florida Baptist Convnetion

Not surprisingly, Beth T'filah is listed on the Florida Baptist Convention baptism lists. Here is the link to the 2008 Report on Baptisms; Beth T'filah is the 5th listing under Gulf Stream (Editor's note: Your computer must be able to read .pdf files to read this link): Click Here

Here is they are on the Florida Baptist Convention's 2004 Baptism report; Beth T'filah is the 6th listing on the page: (Editor's note: Again, your computer must be able to read .pdf files to read this link): Click Here

Similarly, Beth T'filah is listed on the 2003 Florida Baptist Convention Report of Mission Giving; Beth T'filah is the 10th listing (Editor's note: Your computer must be able to read .doc files to read this link): Click Here

Moreover, Beth T'filah contributed nearly $1000 to the Gulf Stream Baptist Association between January-May 2008. Here is the link to the proof; the information is on page 7. They are listed as "Congregation Beth T'filah" (Editor's note: Your computer must be able to read .pdf files to read this link): Click Here

A real Jewish congregation would never be listed with the churches of the Florida Baptist Convention or Gulf Stream Baptist Association, particularly for baptisms and giving money to missionary work.

All in all, Beth T'filah is just another Baptist church and not a real Jewish synagogue.

Great Sites, Priceless Information

Here are a number of great sites that counter missionaries and explain the differences in belief between Judaism and Christianity, including addressing the Biblical verses that missionaries try to use against the Jews and explaining why the missionaries are incorrect.
