Exploring Congregation Beth Simchat Hamashiach

HOME

Thank you for entering my page!  Right now, you are probably searching to find out more about Jewish beliefs in Jesus.  Perhaps, you are questioning your faith, and are looking at different options. Congregation Beth Simchat Hamashiach is a Messianic Jewish congregation in Phoenix, Arizon. It claims to be Jewish, but, in reality, it is a purely Christian congregation. I will demonstrate that they are Christian, using information from their website and other Christian sites. Each time I will provide references, so all of the information about them is easily seen.

Christian Foundation

Beth Simchat Hamashiach is a full member of the Church of the Nazarene, a Christian movement! A real Jewish synagogue would not be a member of a Christian movement. Here is the link to the proof: Click Here

Moreover, Beth Simchat Hamashiach is part of the Multicultural Ministries of the Church of the Nazarene. Again, here is the link to the information: Click Here

Along those same lines, they are also listed in the Arizona District of the Church of the Nazarene. Here is a link to the District directory, they are the third listing on the right: Click Here

Not suprisingly, Beth Simchat Hamashiach provides a link to the Church of the Nazarene in its "Resources" section, toward the bottom of their homepage on the right side: Click Here

Overall, it is obvious from these references that Congregation Beth Simchat Hamashiach is a Church of the Nazarene church and not a Jewish synagogue.

Evangelizing the Jews

Beth Simchat Hamashiach and it's leader, Reverend Jack Zimmerman, are active in trying to evanglize more Jews to Christianity. He is working with several other Church of Nazarene ministers to attract more Jews for the church. He is the Mission Coordinator for the Messianic Jewish ministries of the Church of the Nazarene. Here is a link to the information, he is listed about 2/3 down the page: Click Here

According to Monty Coble, his Nazarene co-founder of Beth Simchat Hamashiach, Jack Zimmerman was specifically chosen to evangelize the Jews by the Nazarene Church. According to Monty Coble's website, Jewish Ministries International:

"Rev. Monty Coble and his wife of 30 years, Helen, have been in fulltime ministry since 1998. He was ordained an Elder of the Church of the Nazarene in 2001. In May of 2000, Monty joined Rabbi Jack Zimmerman and his wife Sandie in planting Beth Simchat HaMashiach, Church of the Nazarene where for the first 3 1/2 years he served director of the multi-media area. In September of 2003, as a natural part of the birthing process, Beth Simchat left the mother church and Monty took on the duties as the congregational administrator where he served until October 2007.

As a part of a growing congregation, the first of its kind in the Church of the Nazarene, Monty was instrumental in discipling new believers and well as training leadership in the local congregation. Rabbi Zimmerman was selected by the Church of the Nazarene to plan the strategy for evangelizing the Jewish culture in the United States and Canada."

I do not think it is possible to be more obvious that Jack Zimmerman is working with the Church of the Nazarene to convert Jews. Here is the link to the quote, the quote comes from the first two paragraphs: Click Here

Along with Reverend Monty Coble, he authored a paper called "Messianic Jews Cultural Outreach Strategy." The goal of this paper is to:

"To help our sister Nazarene churches carry out Romans 1:16 and reach the Jewish person with the Good News, as effectively as the Gentiles have been reached, through the planting of Messianic Congregations of the Church of the Nazarene in the United States and Canada."

Jack Zimmerman is clearly attempting to train Christians to evangelize Jews. Here is the link to the quote, the quote is in the first paragraph (please note that the document is in a PDF form so you must have an Adobe program on your computer to read it): Click Here

Jack Zimmerman and Monty Coble have partnered to help get more resources to develop the Messianic community in the Church of the Nazarene while Coble and the Nazarene Bible College are trying to develop a degree in Messianic Jewish ministry. Again, solid proof of the Church of the Nazarene's goal to convert Jews. Here is the link to the information; it is about 3/4 down the page under "New Partnerships to Support Messianic Jewish Ministry in the Church of the Nazarene": Click Here

The Church of the Nazarene even asks it's members to pray for Jack Zimmerman and the Messianic Jewish ministries, along with it's other "multicultural ministries." Here is the link to the proof, Jack Zimmerman is in the bottom right corner: Click Here

Other Leadership

Beth Simchat Hamashiach's Associate Rabbi/Pastor is Crystal Luton, who is also the founder of Arms of Love Family Fellowship. According to her own biography on her site:

" I earned a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2000, and am a licensed Pastor in the Church of the Nazarene. I received my District License from the Church of the Nazarene in 2006, and I am a Pastor on staff at Beth Simchat Hamashiach Nazarene Messianic Community."

Obviously, she is not a real Jewish leader, but a Church of the Nazarene leader. Here is the link to her bio, the quote comes from the second paragraph: Click Here

To bring home the point, according her bio, Pastor Lutton received her degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. You may wonder what type of school is Fuller Theological Seminary. Well, according to Fuller:

"Fuller Theological Seminary, embracing the School of Theology, School of Psychology, and School of Intercultural Studies, is an evangelical, multidenominational, international, and multiethnic community dedicated to the equipping of men and women for the manifold ministries of Christ and his Church."

Clearly, this is another Christian minister, not a Jewish leader. A real Jewish congregation would not allow a Christian minister to help run their synagogue. Here is the link to the Fuller quote: Click Here

Great Sites, Priceless Information

Here are a number of great sites that counter missionaries and explain the differences in belief between Judaism and Christianity, including addressing the Biblical verses that missionaries try to use against the Jews and explaining why the missionaries are incorrect. For the most in-depth analysis of verse by verse questions, go to Messiah Truth (sections on Counter-Missionary: Multi-media training [this can be read without being "multi-media"], Knowing Your Orchard and Judaism's Answer), Jews for Judaism (in their Reference Section (please note that the Isaiah topics tend to be under "Suffering Servant" part of the "Proof Text" section) and the Q & A section of Outreach Judaism.
